The very first time I talked to Coach Gags I could already tell he truly cared about me, not just as a runner, but as a person. Good race or bad race, Coach Gags remained genuinely invested in me and I really appreciated that. Also, another huge reason for joining NJNYTC is because 3 of my previous NC State teammates had already joined a year before me. After hearing great things about the track club and their positive experiences, I realized it would be a great fit for me too.
Greatest Strength: Being able to see the bigger picture. In running and in life there are a lot of battles and obstacles. Through my own trials, I feel that I have learned how to remain level headed because of my faith and understanding that God ultimately is in control. I eagerly seek to experience His peace to the fullest in everything.
Greatest Weakness: I can be impatient at times, especially if I haven't had my coffee yet or if I'm hungry... (I'm sorry Michael for what I have said during those times...)
Favorite Gags Quote: "Be tough." Very simple and to the point, but hearing it come from Coach Gags gives it much more meaning. Coach Gags genuinely believes in each of his athletes and these two words really stick with me when the pain starts to kick in. It fuels the fire to prove to myself I can be tough just like he tells us every day.
Role Model: My Husband, Michael Mansy. He has always been a shining light in my life since the day I met him. While dating, and now in our marriage I am in awe of his ability to never give up. No matter what the obstacle may be, Michael will never let it stop him. His faith, his attitude, his perseverance, and his uplifting spirit inspires me to better myself in all aspects of my life. Whatever he does, he is genuinely passionate and will invest in each relationship he comes across. His encouragement and selflessness to allow me to follow my dream of running professionally leaves me speechless. He truly does put others before himself.
Hobbies: Shopping at Home Goods with Kenyetta (she's the best shopping partner there is), exploring new food places and coffee shops with Michael, as well as being outside and enjoying God's beautiful creation.
Running Idiosyncrasy: I crave a big pancake breakfast the day of my race. I am also addicted to coffee (just like the rest of America). I'll have a cup.. or two.. everyday before practice or a race without fail.
One Run With Anyone: Jesus Christ. To be able to run with my Lord and Savior, the one I pray to, the one who blessed me with this talent to begin with would be the coolest thing in the world. Every time I go for a run or compete in a race, I envision Him right there beside me and I can feel that He is. To actually physically be able to run with Him would be even better!
